About the Photographer...
I am currently a student at Northern Arizona University majoring in Biomedical Science with a double minor in Psychology and Chemistry. When I'm not studying, I love to do yoga, go hiking, knit, and (of course) take pictures! I come from a crazy (but fun and loving) family of six, and am the oldest of four girls. I like to consider myself a budding amateur photographer.
I got my start in photography during my freshman year in high school. It was somewhat of an accident, really. I was trying to help my mom figure out how to work her new digital camera, snapped a few pictures, and discovered that I actually really enjoyed composing and taking photos. Since then, I've gotten my very own "big girl" camera and now officially own two lenses; there's a good chance that my "lens library" will be expanding in the future.
Photography had simply been a hobby of mine up until about half way through my junior year. It was around that time that I was recruited by an organization called People to People for a student-leadership ambassador trip. The trip was CRAZY expensive, but it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that you just can't turn down. Thus, fundraising became a big part of my life for months until just weeks before my departure. As you've probably guessed by now, giving photo shoots was one of the fundraising ideas that came up.
Feed-back about my photo shoot fundraiser turned out to be very positive, so I decided to take my hobby to the next level and...TADA! You've got a photography business in the makings.
*Special thanks to Jamie Mulhern (jamiemulhern.com/), Misty Dunn (www.mistymichellephotography.com/), and Tara Bamford (thirdbookphotography.com/). The three of these lovely ladies are my photographer role models. They have given me countless tips and words of photography wisdom that helped me along the way from beginner to wherever I'm at now. I could not thank each of them enough! I would not be the photographer I am today if not for these three.
Best,
